I Live in Wonder

I Live in Wonder
by Pamela Burke

I live in wonder
of my own frailty and
the simple ways it teaches me
to be still.

I breathe the gentle whisper
of patience learned at rest
on the sea, becalmed.

Land and feet will meet again,
no hurry, I float in
the shimmering
stillness, marveling
at how fragile, and yet
how seaworthy,
I have become.
