A Private Place

A Private Place
by Jan Edwards

Give me a private place, oh God,
Where I can turn to thee,
Grant me the blessed solitude
To pray for what need be.
Help me to do a golden deed
For all my fellow men,
Plant within me kindness from day’s beginning til its end.

Show me wherein each path to take
To lift some weary load,
Make me understand thereafter
I will have reaped what I have sowed.
Let me soothe a breaking heart
Or chase away a tear,
Oh God, if I can only do my part,
Peace will come to me.
